PROJECT INTRODUCTION

In 2016, the CEO of one of Japan’s leading FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) spare parts manufacturing companies in Vietnam contacted Vietsoft to learn about and purchase Vietsoft EcoMaint Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) for managing machinery and equipment maintenance at their company. The key challenge was how to make invested assets generate maximum returns while ensuring smooth production, on-time delivery, consistent quality, and low production costs.

Vietsoft provided consulting to transform traditional machinery and equipment asset management into a digital technology-based approach. The objective was to increase productivity and reduce production costs by eliminating waste as much as possible, reducing machine downtime, lowering spare parts inventory, extending equipment lifespan, and reducing maintenance costs.

PROJECT SCALE

In terms of company scale, this Japanese FDI spare parts manufacturing enterprise has more than 640 pieces of equipment.

The number of software users is as follows:

  • Executive management: 03 users.
  • Maintenance department: 15 users.
  • Operations department: 70 users

OPERATIONAL RESULTS

Operational data from 2017 to 2023 shows the following:

  • Using 2017 as the comparison baseline, the number of equipment breakdown incidents at the enterprise decreased significantly after the software was applied, reaching a reduction of 71.9%.
  • The number of preventive maintenance work orders increased sharply from 1,222 work orders in 2017 to 1,492 work orders in 2019, an increase of 34.1%. The rise in preventive maintenance work orders in the early years shows that CMMS implementation helped strengthen preventive maintenance activities, enabling equipment to operate more effectively and reducing the risk of serious failures.
  • As a result, the number of breakdowns per piece of equipment fell from 6.06 times/equipment in 2017 to 0.42 times/equipment in 2023, a decrease of 93.1%.
