PROJECT INTRODUCTION

With funding from the SIPPO program through the International Labour Organization (ILO), in coordination with the Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA), Vietsoft implemented the Equipment and Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) Vietsoft EcoMaint at Lam Viet Joint Stock Company, a furniture manufacturing enterprise.

IMPLEMENTATION MILESTONES

The key implementation milestones were as follows:

PROJECT SCALE

In terms of scale, Lam Viet has 752 pieces of equipment, distributed across 5 production workshops.

The software users included:

• Management and IT: 03 people
• Maintenance department: 13 people
• Production department: 61 people

OPERATIONAL RESULTS

The operating results from 01.03.2024 to 31.06.2024 were as follows:

• Machine downtime was reduced by 42.2%, totaling 1,790 hours, resulting in cost savings of 17,900 USD. (The minimum estimated cost of 1 hour of machine downtime is 10 USD/hour.)
• Total maintenance costs decreased by 20.2%, equivalent to 2,883 USD.
• It is worth highlighting that corrective maintenance costs dropped by 76.7%, indicating that failures occurring from April to June were minor and not severe.
• Total savings over 3 months reached 20,783 USD, which translates into annual savings of 83,132 USD. The payback period was 3 months.
• Most importantly, the software helped Lam Viet Joint Stock Company establish a stable and sustainable production operating foundation.

ILO’S EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ECOMAINT CMMS PROJECT

GOOD NEWS FOR WOOD COMPANIES LOOKING TO INVEST IN SOFTWARE:

• The implementation time can be shortened, as Lam Viet has agreed to share its preventive maintenance standards data with other companies in the wood industry.
• Vietsoft offers a preferential program for wood industry businesses, with investment costs reduced by approximately 30% compared to the system delivered to Lam Viet.
